The working of our school canteen is in a disarray at present.
Neither the stuff nor service is satisfactory. The contractor as well as his servants are ill – mannered, careless and dirty.
In my opinion, the present contractor along-with the team of his servants should be dismissed. A more honest contractor who has some more and better experience in this line should be given the contract. He should be asked to display a list of articles and their rates. His wares should be checked regularly by a committee of teachers and boys nominated for the purpose.
I think, it will be still better if the canteen can be run by the teacher and the boys themselves on a cooperative basis. To explore this possibility, a committee of teacher and students may be appointed.
