My Class Orchestra
Alan was having a Music lesson. He trooped into the music room and headed straight for the tambourines.
Alan and three of his classmates took a tambourine each. There were also two sets of bongo drums and a box with a few triangles in it. Everyone had an instrument. Then, their teacher told them that they were going to play the nursery rhyme ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’. At first, they scoffed at the idea. It was such a simple song. One of Alan’s classmates could play the piano so she led the rest of the class in the song. However, they soon realized that it was not an easy song to play. Things turned out a mess at first. There was a cacophony of sounds. Everyone sounded terrible. It was after much practice that they started to sound a little better. By then, the Music lesson had come to an end. The students were reluctant to return to their classroom. However, their teacher promised to let them practice during the next lesson.
On the way back to the classroom, Alan and his classmates joked about starting a class orchestra. If they were good enough, they could even perform during the Teachers’ Day concert.
