Two Friends and The Bear
Once two friends set out on a long journey. They were passing through a deep jungle. One of them was scared of wild animals but the other was lion at heart. The brave friend assured his timid friend that he would protect him. Suddenly they saw a big and ferocious bear coming-towards them. Both started trembling. The one who had promised his friend to save him quickly climbed a tree. The other one was totally confused. He lay down pretending to be a lifeless person. The bear came there and circled the man. He smelt him and licked his feet.
There was no movement. The bear took him to be a dead body and went away. The friend on the tree was watching everything. When the bear had gone out of sight he climbed down and woke his friend up. He asked him what the bear was whispering in his ears. His friend said that the bear advised him not to trust a false and selfish, friend. Hearing this the selfish and fair-weather friend felt very small.
Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.
