A Thoughtful Girl
Jenny woke up at eight o’clock in the morning and saw her mother leaving the house for work. Her mother looked tired and Jenny could understand why. Their maid had gone back for a vacation and their mother had to do everything on their own.
Jenny felt sorry for her mother and she decided to help out. After all, it was the school holidays and she had nothing much to do. She started by washing all the clothes. She had seen her mother use the washing machine so she was able to operate the machine. After putting the clothes into the washing machine, she swept the floor and then prepared to mop the floor. Mopping the floor was hard work but Jenny did not mind it.
After an hour or so, she completed sweeping and mopping the floor. She then put the clothes out to dry. After that, she wiped all the furniture. Finally, all the household chores were done. She sat down and watched television for a while.
At about five o’clock, she thought that it would be good to prepare dinner for her parents. She had learnt some simple dishes in school so she started cooking. It was hard work, trying to juggle between cooking and washing but she did it. In the end, she was rather satisfied with her dishes.
Soon, her parents returned. They were both surprised at the cleanliness of the house. They were even more surprised to see that dinner was ready. Jenny’s parents thanked her for her thoughtful act. Jenny was very proud of herself and she volunteered to do it again the next day.
