The Alternative Cures
Today, more and more people are taking to alternative systems of medicine to cure themselves of diseases. These systems are based on ancient theories of holistic treatment with virtually no drugs. The fundamental idea behind these therapies is to avoid-all pollutions which damage our body and fortify the body in such a way that it remains unaffected by these pollutants.
The modern day medicine can alleviate the symptoms ‘of a disease but the treatment can be meaningful only when the patient recovers fully. Very often, the allopathic practitioners have no answers as to how to treat the root of some ailments. Alternative therapies provide an answer to this.
Ayurveda: Ayurveda literally means ‘the science of life’ and deals with medicine and surgery as part of its treatment. There are numerous references to ayurveda in the Rigveda.
The principle of ayurvedic medicine is based on administrations of the drugs, regulating diet and changing the mode of living. The drugs, prepared indigenously, are derived from animals, plants and minerals.
Unani medicine is based-on principles put forward by Hippocrates, the great philosopher and physician. It is based on the theory that diseases are an influence of surroundings and ecological conditions on the state of health. It aims at restoring equilibrium of various elements and faculties of the human body. The treatment includes regimental therapy like Turkish baths, massage and purging exercises, etc., and diagnosis is made through the pulse.
Reiki and Pranic Healing: Reiki is a hand-healing technique made popular in late 19th century by Dr Mikao Usai, a Japanese Buddhist. It is. a simple and natural method of transferring the life force energy. Once a person becomes a channel for Reiki; the concentrated life force energy flows through his or her hands, of its own will. Pranic healing works on the `aura’ around a person. The healer cleanses the blocks in energy in the body and gives fresh vital ‘energy or life force. Meditation is part of both the disciplines.
Acupressure: This is yet another system that propagates that nature is a master healer. One of the oldest systems of curing, it relates to applying pressure on specific points and areas with- lands or specially designed tools. This simple arid-easy to learn therapy believes that all organic have corresponding reflex control points. By pushing these points, every ailment can be treated.
Naturotheraphy: This is a system that propagates that disease is the result of accumulation of waste matter which builds Up due to, a wrong lifestyle. A number of therapies are employed by nephropathy. These include hydrotherapy, dietary cure, massages, etc. Acute diseases are an attempt to expel the body wastes.
Aromatherapy: This is another rare form of treatment .that uses pleasing scents to reduce stress, enhance relaxation, relieve anxiety and improve health. It is known to alleviate emotionally-related disorders and provides respite from insomnia.
The other alternative therapies include gemology, magneto therapy, etc., in which gems and magnets are used with beneficial effects.
However, all these therapies necessarily bring home the fact that health is a great asset and good health can be acquired to a large extent by returning to Mother Nature. Though these therapies are not meant to detract from the efficacy of modern medicine, they can effectively be used to supplement allopathic treatment.
