Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820 in Florence, Italy. She was born into a wealthy family where her father was a landowner. Florence was well educated by her father who taught her literature, math, music, history, philosophy, and five different foreign languages. At age twenty-five, she told her parents that she wanted to become a nurse. Even though her parents disapproved, she went on to pursue her dream.
