The Old Lady

Mrs. Peters was taking her usual walk in the park on Wednesday morning. She was eighty years old. She limped slowly with a walking stick. She liked to admire the beautiful flowers and watch the fish swim in the pond.

Mrs. Peters clutched her purse in one hand and held her walking stick in the other as she made her way to a bench. Just then, a man ran past her, knocking her slightly. She tried to steady herself with her walking stick. When she regained her balance, she realized that her purse had been stolen. Her purse was very important to her. Mrs. Peters looked up and down the footpath in frustration. However, it was deserted. She had not been feeling well lately and the purse contained her medicine which she needed to take.

Just outside the park, a man was standing next to a dustbin. He was partially hidden by a tree. In his hand was the purse. He opened it excitedly. There was a glint in his eyes. To his disappointment, all he saw was a packet of pills. There was not a single cent in the velvet-lined purse. He was so disappointed that he tossed the purse into the dustbin without another thought.
