Dear mother and father,
I hope this letter finds you in good health.
Recently some students of our institution were found to be indulging in drug abuse in a hotel that was raided by the police. The news was covered on TV and by the newspapers. A student named Kuldeep was also among those who were involved. Yesterday Mamaji telephoned me to reveal that you were worried because you thought that it was I who was named.
This is a terrible misunderstanding. I am clean and I never had anything to do with the drugs. I ever stay away from such groups. The boy who was named was just my namesake, a senior. I don’t even know about him. I learned about him only when my friends told me about it and alerted me about the name confusion.
Please stop worrying. I am not involved in drug rackets. Rest assured that I won’t do anything in the future too to betray your trust. I am concentrating on my studies to earn a research scholarship.
