THE TOBACCO CONTROL LEGISLATION

This legislation will be applicable w.e.f. 01-05-2004 all over India. The provisions contained in the legislation are:

1. Prohibition of smoking in public place.
2. Prohibition of advertisement of cigarette and other tobacco products; and
3. Prohibition of sale of cigarette and other tobacco products to a person below the age of eighteen years.

Violation of any of these provisions is a punishable offence.
