Dear Jyotsna

I hope this letter of mine will find you in sound health and cheerful spirits. Yesterday Raksha Bandhan Festival, an emblem of brother-sister love, came to an end. Kavita tied with her infant’s hands on my wrist the sacred thread sent by you. Your smiling face danced before my eyes when I looked at the ‘Lotus’ Raakhi knit together with affectionate strands. Your childlike obstinacy and your sweet tiny words haunted my mind. I am also as much eager to see you as you are. But I am under the compulsion of excessive work. I’ll make my best efforts to come to see you next time. But if you come here with Rakesh Babu for a few days, we shall be very glad. It will be a sort of climate-change besides meeting. Now I am sending a wrist. Watch to you, my beloved sister, in remembrance of this sacred festival. I hope you will like this gift of mine. I had got this wristwatch from Switzerland. Please accept it as a token of love from your elder brother. Along with it there is one ‘Shaffer pen for Rakesh Babu. Whenever he uses this pen, my memory will revive.

Your sister-in-law also is waiting for you. Rest is O.K. May you lead a happy conjugal life! Kavita conveys her greetings to you and her uncle.

Looking forward to receiving a reply from you.

Your elder brother

Prabhat Kumar
