My Dear Dinesh,
I hope you are well there. After a couple of days spent in settling in this new place, I am today writing to you. The hostel is a charming place. The surroundings are healthy and the inmates are friendly. But I am still unable to forget the hell that the journey was. I came by train. The compartment was a second class one, but it was so only in name. It was the worst in every way. Even this compartment was over-crowded. Some passengers were without ticket but nobody could say a word to them. The noise and suffocation gave me a terrible headache. The lavatory was out of reach. I could not look out of the window. And, worst of all, people were sitting on my luggage. The trunk is totally ruined now. At one station one of the passengers began crying that his pocket had been picked. Thank God, mine was safe. One should travel in a second-class compartment only when one is light and healthy.
Please convey my respectful regards to your dear parents and love to Bulbul.
Yours ever,
Raj Shanker
