Write a letter to your friend telling her about the recent literacy campaign launched by your school, and what the NSS in doing to help the campaign.
Dear Amrita,
I am sorry I haven’t written to you for such a long time. I have been very busy at my school. Shishu Bharti has recently launched a literacy drive to educate the children of labourers working at construction sites near the school. As the secretary of the school National Service Scheme, I have been given the responsibility of organizing student volunteers to visit various sites and take classes. The main objective of the drive is to teach those children to read and write in Hindi and do simple calculations.
The response from members of the NSS has been overwhelming. The girls are most enthusiastic and willingly give their free time to take classes at the selected sites for two hours each evening. In one place, some adults have started attending the classes. This has given us a lot of encouragement and I think our hard work will make this drive a big success. I an ending now. Write soon.
