Dear Sujata,
I am writing to you from a small valley, Yoku in the upper Shivaliks. We are camping here for tonight. A tributary of the Ganga flows through a narrow gorge down this valley. The river is swift and clear. On the other side of the river the mountain slope is very steep, but on our side the slope is gentle. Tomorrow morning, we shall go down to the river for a swim.
The valley is beautiful with its green trees and myriads of birds. As Yoku is not a tourist spot, its beauty and serenity is unspoilt by so called development. There is no pollution here and I can see the distant ranges clearly even in the twilight. I shall take lots of photographs to show you.
