My dear Shammi,
I have come to know that your father has brought a number of books on English Grammar. ‘A Practical English Grammar’ by Thomson and Martinent is one of them. It is one of the best books on grammar. It is also very costly. I wanted to study this book but I can’t afford to buy it.
I, therefore, request you to lend me this book for one week. It will greatly help me to improve my language. I shall prepare notes from it and take down the important items.
I hope you won’t refuse me this book. I promise you that I won’t spoil this book. It will remain safe in my custody. I assure you that I won’t mark it either with a pencil or with a pen.
I am sure you won’t disappoint me.
