Hon’ble Shri Sumitranand Pant
I offer my obeisance to you. You don’t know me, but I know you very well through the medium of your art of poetry. I have been a great fan and admirer of your books. When I read in last week’s Navbharat Times that you were going to be awarded a prize of one lakh rupees for this year’s best book ‘Chidambara’ by the All India Gvanpeeth, my joy knew no bounds. It is a matter of coincidence that this book of yours has been selected for this prize, otherwise, in my view, all the books of yours are worthy of such prizes.
Through this award by the All India Gyanpeeth, Indian scholars have paid their tribute to your talent. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that you have raised the prestige of the award conferred upon you by the All India Gyanpeeth rather than that it has enhanced your prestige.
Kindly accept the heartiest congratulations of your unknown fan on this auspicious occasion. May God bless you with a long life so that you may continue serving Hindi literature with your immortal works!
Yours, etc.
Unknown fan
