Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to express my thoughts about India’s pathetic performance in sports.
It is unfortunate that a country at an arab of people cannot produce a sports person of international standing. In this regard few suggestions can be given as under:
We have to choose the players very young.
These children should be provided with excellent schooling, dietary and training facilities.
There should be isolated from external influences, so that they can concentrate on building up their game.
There should be a body of internationally renowned sports persons and coaches to oversee their progress. Care should be taken to avoid political interference.
Sports psychologists and medical officers specializing in sports medicines should be engaged.
The sportsmen should face no financial hardship. Financial independence should be maintained by opening up various events for sponsorships.
