Sir,
Let me draw the attention of the public and the Municipal Corporation of Kolkata towards the ever-growing need for public parks and gardens in all the localities of the city through the columns of your esteemed daily.
It is well known to the authorities that Kolkata has become a overcrowded city. The population is increasing day by day. The people are living in very congested localities. They are unable to get fresh water and air for their survival. Parks and gardens are the lungs of a city. They provide a method for purifying the air. Animals and birds are also able to find solace in them. The citizens of the city would also be able to have some mental peace in the parks. They give us pure and fresh air and thus keep our bodies healthy. The young and the old men, as well as women and children, can take up exercise, relax and entertain themselves in these parks and gardens. The city dwellers would really have a sense of relief as they would be relieved from their congested houses for some time.
It is, therefore, requested that the authorities should seriously consider this aspect and should provide public parks and gardens in those parts of the city in which, there is a dire need for the same.
