Dear Son Suman
I am sorry to say that I have received no news from you for a long time. At the time of your departure from home, you had promised to write a weekly letter home. But not to speak of a week, even a full month has passed. I hope you will be in cheerful spirits and write a letter home at the earliest.
Last Sunday your friend, Jeevan called on us. During the conversation, he happened to tell us that you have fallen prey to seeing movies. Addiction to anything is always bad. Seeing movies for amusement is not vicious, but its addiction is an evil thing. Those students who develop an excessive fondness for films are generally found bidding good-bye to their studies. Idealism lags behind. The aim of life is buried into oblivion since they pass their days and nights in thinking about actors and actresses. All the time such students keep on humming film songs. They try to adopt the ways of life of actors. It is, therefore, in the interest of students to stay away from such evil influences as far as possible. They should keep in mind their financial position. Simplicity and self-control should be their motto of life if they really want to attain education.
I hope you will act upon my advice written in this letter. Take care of your health. Keep on using milk and fruits. Your mother always bears you in mind. Kavita sends her greetings to you.
Looking forward to receiving a reply to my letter.
Yours affectionately
Badri Nath
