Who opened the first escort agency?
The first ESCORT AGENCY was the S.O.S. Bureau, opened at 31 Dover St, London, by Mrs Horace Farquharson in 1937. Rates varied according to conditions of hire, which were always of the utmost propriety, but the younger son of a peer could be obtained for £ 3 an evening. Mrs Farquharson’s service included presentations at Court, for which the sum of £ 5,000 would secure the patronage of a Duchess, and £ 3,000 that a Marchioness.
