First AEROPLANE FLIGHT was made by Orville Wright in the 12 hp Flyer 1 at Kill Devil Hills, Kittyhawk, North Carolina at 10.35 am on 17th December 1903. The flight lasted 12 seconds at the height of 8-12 feet and air speed of 30-35 mph. It was witnessed by Orville Wright’s brother and coinventer Wilbur Wright and five coastal guards. Three other flights were made the same day the longest by Wilbur, who covered 852 ft in 59 seconds more than half a mile air distance. It was reported in Britain by the Daily Mail the following day.
