The first FLUORESCENT LIGHTING (Hot-cathode) was developed by General Electric Co., at Nela Park, Ohio in 1935. The tube, 2 ft long emitted a brilliant green light and was labelled ‘The Fluorescent lumiline lamp a laboratory experiment of great promise’.
