The first ROUND-THE-WORLD PASSENGER SERVICE was inaugurated by Qantas Empire Airways on 14 January 1958, flying the Super Constellation Southern Aurora eastbound from Sydney to London via the USA in 5+ days and another Super Constellation, the Southern Zephyr, westbound from Sydney to London via India and the Middle East in 6 1/2 days.
