When was the film awards competition held?
The first FILM ACADEMY AWARDS for feature length films were made in connection with a special cinema competition held at the International Exhibition, Turin in 1912. The Grand Prix of 25,000 francs was awarded to the Ambrosio Film Co. for the Italian feature After Fifty Years a historical drama set in the Austro-Italian war of 1859.
