What are the space feats of astronauts?

First SPACE WALK

The first SPACE WALK was made by Lt Col Aleksey Arkhipovich Leonov, who left the Soviet spacecraft Noshkod II at approximately 08.30 hr GMT on 18 March 1965 and spent 12 min 9 sec floating in space connected to the satellite by a nylon cord 16 ft long. During this time, he travelled about 3,000 miles at a speed of 17,500 mph.

The first BRITISH ASTRONAUT was confectionery scientist Helen Shammn of Sheffield, who became the world’s 15th woman astronaut aboard the Soviet Union’s Soyuz TMI2 on 18 May 1991, spending seven days in space. She was the first woman astronaut from outside the US and USSR.

The first INTERPLANETARY SPACE SHOT was made by US spacecraft Mariner II, which was launched on 27 August 1962 and after travelling a distance of 180 million miles, flew within 21,594 miles of the planet Venus on 14 December 1962. The most significant items of information transmitted back to the Earth receiving station at Goldstone, Calif., were that the surface temperature of Venus is some 800°F. and that the Venusian ‘day’ lasts as estimated eight months.

The first SPACECRAFT TO LAND ON ANOTHER PLANET was the Russian Venus III, which was launched on 16 November 1965 and made a hard landing on Venus on 1 March 1966.

The first LUNAR SPACE SHorrewas-niade by the Russian artificial satellite, Luna I, which was launched from Tyuratam, USSR on 2 January 1959 and flew to within 4,660 miles of the loon’s surface.

The first SPACECRAFT TO LAND ON THE MOON was Luna II, which was launched on 12 September 1959 and crashed between the craters Archimedes and Autolycus in the Mare Imbrium two days later.

The first SOFT LANDING ON THE MOON was made by Luna IX on 3 February 1966. A series of close-up pictures were transmitted back to Earth. The experiment demonstrated that the Moon’s, surface was hard enough to withstand the weight of a spacecraft.
