Sir,
Of late the prices of all essential commodities are rising day by day. Rice which sold at 15 Rs.kg. last month is now selling at 16.50 Rs. Per kg. The price of pure ghee has increased from 115 Rs./kg. to 125 Rs./kg. The prices of vegetables, fruits, pulses, etc. have also shown an upward trend. In fact, it is difficult to think of an item that is not becoming dearer day by day.
The poor are the worst prey of rising prices. Nowadays, it is hard for them to make both ends meet.
One of the reasons for the increase in prices is hoarding by the traders, who try to create artificial scarcity as they have done in the case of rice and food grains. The government should check such malpractices to safeguard the interests of the consumers.
Yours faithfully,
Pratibha Kapoor
