Subject: Tough Question Paper
Sir, I shall feel very grateful to you if you give a place to my protest against the tough question paper in your esteemed paper in the ‘Letters to Editor’ column.
The English Paper ‘B’ and Mathematics ‘A’ set for the Secondary School Examination of the board held respectively on 8th March and 16th this year were unfair to the students. The questions were very tough and out of course. There were a lot of terms mentioned in mathematics the examinees had never read or heard about. The Précis, Paragraphs, and Compositions given in the English Paper were not from the textbooks. Reading the Questions Papers was a horrifying experience for the examinees. Generally, the topics were beyond the general knowledge and standard of the Class X students.
The authorities must keep in mind that the examinations are meant to fairly test the intelligence of the students. They are not for tormenting the examinees. One very precious year the student’s life is involved. Hence, I hope the concerned authorities would instruct the examiners to mark the answer sheets generously in view of the above facts.
Yours faithfully
Vikrant Arora
