Two Best Friends
David and Jim were best friends. They always spent recess together. They would eat noodles in the canteen and go to the field to play football. They were inseparable.
One recess, David decided not to play football with Jim. After they finished eating, David told Jim that he wanted to play badminton with a group of boys. Without another word, he ran off to the school hall. He did not invite Jim to join them. Jim was shocked. He shouted for David but David ignored him. Jim ran after David.
When Jim reached the school hall, he saw David playing happily with a group of boys. Jim did not know them. He stood at the side of the hall watching them. He felt very miserable. Tears rolled down his cheeks. He thought that he had lost his best friend. He was about to walk off when he heard David calling him. “Jim! Come on! We have been waiting for you!” Jim turned around in surprise. He had been mistaken. David had wanted him to join them after all.
The boys spent the rest of recess playing badminton with their new friends. They had a great time. Jim realized that it was more fun playing with a bigger group of friends.
