The Present
George, my best friend, was admitted to Eastern Hospital a few days ago. He met with an accident while he was cycling in the park. He broke his arm and fractured his ankle. I was shocked as George had always been a good and safe cyclist.
When I arrived at the hospital, I was stunned to see George lying miserably on the bed. Both his arm and ankle were in a cast. He could hardly move. I felt very sorry for him. He hardly smiled and tears welled up in his eyes whenever I told him about what was happening in school. He missed school a lot but he could not go back.
I wanted to cheer George up but I did not have enough money to buy him a present. Then, I remembered my handheld game console that he liked. I knew that it would cheer him up. I was right! George’s eyes lit up when he saw the console. He cheered up immediately. Although his arm was in a cast, he managed to play the games.
I was glad to see George smile again. I was a little upset about not having my game console but I did not mind giving it to George. I knew it helped to make him feel better.
