The Great Rush
Sam grabbed his sister’s hand and they ran as fast as they could towards the center of the shopping mall. There was a yo-yo demonstration going on. Playing the yo-yo was their favourite activity and they could not wait to watch the man
“Fire! Fire! Run!”
Sam and his sister were shoved from all sides. They were pushed towards the stage. As they were very small, they could not see what was going on. Everyone was running away and screaming. Sam climbed onto the platform to see what was happening. He was stunned to see thick black smoke coming from the food court just behind him. He grabbed his sister’s hand and they rushed out with the crowd. However, as they were very small, no one noticed them. A burly man bumped into them and a lady shoved them aside with an umbrella. Sam fell and pulled his sister along with him. Before they could get up, someone else stepped on them. The frightened children covered their heads with their hands as people rushed out of the building, kicking and pushing them.
The two children were found by firefighters squatting outside a shop. They were coughing continuously from inhaling the smoke. A firefighter immediately took them outside to an ambulance.
