The Day My Mother Was Ill
“Mum! I’m home!” | yelled and slammed the door behind me. However, the house was silent. My mother was always in the kitchen at this time.
I went upstairs and saw my mother’s door ajar. I pushed it open and gasped in fright when I saw my mother lying on the bed. She looked pale and weak. I noticed the packets of medicine on the table. My mother had the flu. I was shocked. My mother never fell sick. She was always bursting with energy. I felt upset seeing her lie on the bed. Since I had no lunch, I made myself a ham sandwich. Then, I made one for my mother too. When I checked on my mother again later in the afternoon, I was glad to see her sitting up and eating the sandwich. She smiled at me and told me that the sandwich was delicious. That night, my father cooked dinner. It was quiet during dinnertime without my mother. She was always the one talking.
The next morning, I was surprised to see my mother making breakfast. She did not look as energetic as usual but she was up and about. I was delighted that my mother was feeling better. The house was not the same without her around.
