New Year’s Day
Stephanie was at the New Year’s Day celebration with her mother. The place was packed with people. At the stroke of midnight, brightly-coloured fireworks filled the air. Stephanie clapped her hands delightedly.
The celebration ended after the fireworks display was over. Stephanie gripped her mother’s hand as they made their way to the bus stop. The place was very crowded. People were jostling one another. A group of teenagers bumped into Stephanie and she lost her grip of her mother’s hand. She panicked. She shouted for her mother at the top of her voice but her mother was still walking ahead. She did not realize that Stephanie was no longer holding her hand. Just then, another group of teenagers pushed against Stephanie and she fell to the ground. She began wailing and shouting for her mother. A young couple passing by asked her if she was lost. They asked her where she was going. They decided to take her to the bus stop themselves.
When Stephanie reached the bus stop, she saw her mother frantically looking around for her. She was shouting for Stephanie at the top of her voice, Stephanie ran towards her mother and hugged her tightly. Her mother cried in relief. She thanked the couple for their help.
