My Friend’s Birthday Party
It was a special day for Ken. It was his birthday. He was on his way to school. The day before, he told his classmates that it was his birthday. He wondered if they would have a surprise for him.
When Ken arrived in school, no one wished him a happy birthday. No one gave him a present. His friends just smiled and said ‘hi’ to him. Ken was disappointed. No one had remembered his birthday. During recess, Ken took out his lunchbox and dragged his feet to the canteen. He wanted to go home instead.
Ken walked to his usual spot in the canteen and sat down to eat his sandwich. He was about to bite into it when a group of students went running towards him. Ken looked up in surprise. Before he could say anything, they started singing the birthday song to him. Then, he saw his teacher in the midst of them. She was carrying a birthday cake! Ken’s jaw dropped in surprise. His hands were trembling with excitement as he took the knife to cut the cake.
Everyone had a long recess that day. They ate the cake and gave Ken his present. Ken thanked everyone profusely for the birthday surprise.
