My Brother’s Love for Music
My brother, Don, loved music. His interest started when he was very young.
Don first learnt to play the piano when he was five years old. He was a prodigy. We were amazed when he could play a song after hearing it just once on the radio. He liked to sing and play the piano at the same time. He was very talented. He aced the examinations and went on to play at concerts and recitals when he was seven years old. He also won several music awards. He was well-known in the music industry. However, as our parents were not well-off, he could not pursue his dream of learning music overseas. It did not deter Don from playing the piano. He continued playing at concerts in Singapore. When he grew older, he learnt to play the violin and excelled in that as well. Before long, he was learning the flute and later the saxophone. My brother was good at every musical instrument. Every afternoon, he would be playing an instrument. The house was always filled with the melodious sounds of Beethoven’s symphony.
Don hoped to play with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in the future. He wanted to make a career out of music.
