At the Market
The market was very crowded. Stallholders were calling out to customers. Customers were busy talking about which stall had the best bargains. Brenda was helping her mother to buy some eggs. The bag was very heavy. The floor was also very slippery. She had to walk very carefully.
Brenda was walking past the fish stall when someone bumped into her from behind. He hit her left shoulder so hard that she fell to the side. Without a word, the boy sped off on his skate scooter. Brenda’s right leg was slightly bruised. Someone helped her to her feet. Brenda was about to walk off when she heard something swishing inside her bag. She was dismayed to see that all the twenty eggs were broken. The egg white and yolk had collected at the bottom of the bag.
Brenda was very upset. She was afraid of being scolded by her mother. She headed back to the egg stall to buy more eggs. At that moment, she saw the same boy crashing into a pile of egg trays that were next to the egg stall. He landed in a heap on the floor with egg yolk dripping down the sides of his face. Brenda grinned. He had got what he deserved.
