An Earthquake
“Look out!” Ben screamed as the road in front of him started cracking. His sister, Melissa, stopped cycling immediately. They jumped off their bicycles and ran away as fast as they could.
People around them were scrambling to safety. They ran up a hill. Ben and Melissa followed. Behind them, the road was cracking rapidly. A man who did not escape in time fell through the crack in the road. His screams echoed throughout the quiet town. Moments later, the ground started shaking violently. It was a terrifying sight. Everyone tried to climb up the hill. It was not affected by the earthquake. Suddenly, there was a loud boom, and the entire road split in two. Cars and bicycles slid into the huge dark hole. Ben and Melissa were terrified. They had never seen anything like this before. The terrible event came to an end a few minutes later. It only occurred for a short time but the results were catastrophic.
When the people were sure that the earthquake had ended, they climbed down the hill. Ben and Melissa rushed to their home. They wondered if it had been destroyed in the earthquake. They hoped their parents were all right.
