An Accident at the Basketball Court
Charles and his teammates were having a basketball match. Many of their classmates had gathered to watch them play; Charles was one of the best players in the team. Everyone was cheering for him.
Charles got the ball from one of his teammates and a cheer went up among the spectators. Charles smiled smugly. He knew that he would be the first to score a goal. He dribbled the ball to the other end of the court. He was so good at dodging the other players that no one was able to snatch the ball from him. When he was near enough, he slowed down and glanced at the hoop. He was about to take another step when he stumbled and fell over a pair of legs. One of the other players had tried to stop him. Charles was about to pick himself up when he felt a sharp pain in his right ankle. Looking down, he noticed that his ankle was swollen. His teammates rushed over to help him.
Charles was unable to play for the rest of the game. He sat on the bench nursing his swollen ankle. Charles was disappointed about being left out of the game. He knew he had to be more careful the next time.
