A Visit to the Orphanage
Leroy accompanied his aunt to Rainbow Orphanage during the school holidays. His aunt volunteered there once a week. Leroy was shocked when she told him about the lives of the children there. He decided to see what the place was like.
They arrived at the orphanage at lunchtime. Leroy was stunned to see the food that the children were eating. There was nothing but a plate of rice and vegetables. Leroy thought of the scrumptious meal of dim sum that he just had at a Chinese restaurant. He wondered how the children could eat such plain food. However, the children looked extremely contented. They were tucking in happily. After lunch, Leroy’s aunt introduced him to the children. He played with them on the field. He was shocked to find out that they only had three old dirty balls to share among themselves. They did not have any other toys. Leroy thought of his room full of toys and realized how fortunate he was.
When it was time to leave, Leroy asked his aunt if he could accompany her there again. He told his aunt that he would give the children some of his toys on the next trip. He would also treat them to a lunch of hamburgers and fries.
