A Strong Old Lady
Benjamin was on his way to the library when he saw an elderly lady gathering cardboard boxes. She looked frail Benjamin offered to help her.
The old lady smiled at Benjamin but she told him that she was not as feeble as she looked. When Benjamin insisted, she looked annoyed and pushed him aside. To Benjamin’s surprise, she heaved the stack of cardboard boxes easily onto her shoulders. She held on to the boxes with one hand and pushed a cart filled with more cardboard boxes with the other hand. She was as fit as a young man but she was already seventy years old. Benjamin watched in amazement as the old lady stopped at a dustbin and put down her heavy load. Bending over a pile of rubbish, she rummaged about vigorously inside. She pushed away heavy tin cans with ease and even kicked a heavy rubbish bag out of the way. Finally, she dug up two more cardboard boxes.
The old lady waved energetically to Benjamin just before she crossed the road. She even managed to manoeuvre her way around a parked car. Benjamin shook his head in amazement. He certainly did not expect her to be so strong and healthy.
