A School Competition
“Welcome to the finals of Anderson Primary School’s first idol performance!” shouted the excited teacher. Everyone clapped and cheered. Excitement filled the air and a murmuring of voices could be heard. Everyone was talking nonstop about the coming performances.
The first performance was by a petite Primary One girl. She was going to sing. Everyone thought her voice would not be powerful but she proved everyone wrong. The young girl’s voice resonated throughout the hall. Everyone listened attentively. They were enthralled. The second performer played the piano and sang. He was so nervous that he played the wrong notes and sang out of tune. The third performer played the guitar and sang. He played well at first. Halfway through the song, there was a loud twang. One of the guitar strings had broken! The boy was very embarrassed. The audience clapped and encouraged him to continue but he did not want to. He hung his head and walked away in embarrassment. The fourth performer was a dancer. She did pirouettes and leapt gracefully across the stage. There was resounding applause for her.
The winner was decided by both the judges and the audience. Everyone voted unanimously for the dancer. She received a trophy and a cash reward. It was certainly an exciting and interesting event.
