A Mistake
Jodie and Tania were at the library. They browsed around and borrowed two books each. Then, they went to the kiosk to scan their books.
Jodie and Tania were about to leave when the alarm was raised. The loud ringing echoed throughout the library. Many people stopped to stare at them. The girls stopped in their tracks. Jodie and Tania checked their receipts to make sure that they had borrowed all the books that were in their bags. However, Tania suddenly found another library book inside. She was dumbfounded. She has never seen that book in her life. She took the book back into the library. A librarian was already approaching them. Tania showed her the book. She was about to explain but the librarian did not give her a chance to. She snatched the book from Tania and accused her of trying to steal. Tania was at a loss for words. Just then, a lady ran towards them. She apologized profusely to Tania. She said that her young daughter had mischievously slipped the book into Tania’s bag earlier.
Tania smiled in relief. She told the lady that it was all right. However, she glared at the librarian, who was smiling sheepishly at Tania. She chided her for not checking before making an accusation. The librarian apologized and hurriedly walked away.
