A Lost Wallet
Sophie was in the fitting room of a boutique when she saw a wallet on the floor. She picked it up immediately.
Sophie opened the wallet and looked through it. She saw a wad of fifty-dollar notes in it. Sophie was tempted to take the money. She could use it to buy her favourite toy. Sophie took out three of the notes and put the rest back into the wallet. The wallet looked untouched. She shoved the money into her own wallet and placed the other wallet under a stool in the fitting room. She did not buy the dress as she was in a hurry to leave the boutique. She made her way to the toy shop downstairs. She grabbed the toy that she wanted from the shelf and paid for it. Hugging her toy to herself, she left the shopping centre.
Sophie was at the bus stop when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She spun around and saw the sales assistant from the boutique staring grimly at her. “You stole some money from a wallet, didn’t you?”
Sophie was dumbfounded. Her knees turned to jelly. She was in deep trouble. She meekly followed the sales assistant to the boutique and waited while they called her mother.
