Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is the biggest in the world and is included V in the Seven Natural Wonders of the world. It is located on the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe and it can be reached from both the countries. It is 1,708-meter-wide and forms the biggest water blanket on the Earth. Africa’s fourth longest river, the Zambezi River, begins from here. It was discovered on 17 November, 1855, by a Scottish Missionary and Doctor David Livingstone. The place from which he saw the waterfalls is known as the ‘Livingstone Island’. He had named it Victoria in the honour of his queen. In local language, it is sometimes referred to as Mossy-Oyo-Tonya that means Thundering Smoke. During June, the speed and force of the water is very high. Around 3,000 tons of waterfalls per second into a 100-meter valley. Today the area around it is conserved as a national park. It is also included in UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. It is also famous for its bungee jumping. Bungee jumpers hump here from a height of 111 meters. The world’s highest business jumps are done from here.
