The Picnic I Enjoyed The Most

Essay No. 01

Picnic—the very word brings joy to our heart. It makes us forget not only our worries for a few hours but also gives us recreation and change from the monotony of our daily routine.

It was a fine summer day when we, a group of twelve friends, decided to go to Okhla for a picnic. We all requested our parents and were happy to get permission.

Each of us contributed Rs. 500/- for the picnic expenses. I had arranged the mini-van, in which we were to go to our picnic destination. Some others arranged for the different types of drinks and eatables. We boarded the van for the picnic spot. It took us two hours to reach there.

On reaching there, we selected a nice shady spot and spread our carpet on the grassy lawn. After a short stroll, we all decided to cool ourselves by taking a dip in the crystal clear waters of the river nearby.

After the dip, it was time for light lunch, which was prepared by one of our friends’ mother. After lunch, some decided to take a nap while others played cards, board games, and some friends also played badminton.

Then around evening we had tea, coffee, and some snacks like cakes, sweets, samosas, jalebis, etc. While eating we also cracked jokes and amused each other by playing games and entertained each other by singing popular movie songs.

As it was getting dark, we packed our stuff and returned home. I truly enjoyed the picnic.

The Picnic I Enjoyed the Most

The picnic provides us recreation and change from our daily routine for a few happy hours.

Last week it was a fine summer day and I went to a picnic with my friends. We were a group of fifteen friends. We decided to go to Okhla with our parents’ permission.

All of us contributed a thousand rupees for the picnic. One of the friends had arranged a mini-van. While others arranged the different types of drinks and eatables.

We boarded the van for our destination around 8:30 a.m. It took us three hours to reach Okhla but we did not mind the time as we were all engrossed in singing. On reaching our destination, we selected a nice shady spot near an old tree and spread our carpet on the green grass under the tree.

As it was very hot we decided to take a dip in the nearby lake which was very clear. After that, it was time for a light lunch which was cooked by one of our friends’ mother. After that, some of us took naps while others decided to explore the area by taking a stroll. When others came back, we all decided to play a board game.

Around late afternoon we had tea and cold drinks with snacks like cakes, samosa, bread rolls, etc. to choose from. In between eating we also cracked jokes and amused each other by playing, singing, or dancing. Some friends also played badminton.

As the evening drew near we decided to call it a day and packed our stuff to return to our homes.

It was truly a wonderful picnic which I will always remember.
