If Kashmir is known as “The Paradise on Earth” I feel it is absolutely true. One is wonderstruck on seeing this beautiful valley. It is one of the most beautiful valleys of the world. Some people have called it the “Switzerland of India” also. The valley is surrounded by the Himalayas.
Kashmir has lot to offer to tourists. Its picturesque spots, enchanting landscapes, green forests, historical monuments, flowers are admired by all. Kashmir is also famous for its delicious fruits. It is also the abode of many ascetics (saint and sages) because its placid environment is ideal for meditation. There are many temples also in Kashmir.
Every visitor tries to visit the historical monuments which have great significance, like Anantnag, Chashme Shahi, Verinag, the Nishat Garden and the famous Shalimar Gardens.
Dal Lake with its houseboats presents a beautiful sight. Here the crystal clear reflections of surroundings can be seen in the waters of the lake. The Amarnath Caves, where the temple of Lord Shiva is situated is the holy place of Hindus which is situated at an altitude of nearly 15,000 feet and there are other shrines also where the visitors could be seen in beelines.
Visitors not only from India but also from other countries come to visit the valley of Kashmir for its superb sights, green fields and beautiful scenery.
Some popular hill stations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg etc are also situated in the valley of Kashmir.
