Science and Civilization
Science and civilization are inter-related. With infinite patience, minute observation and experiments with the help of science, man was able to find a civilized way of living. Science has helped man to fulfill his creative urge.
Today civilization has advanced in scientific inventions and discovered things beyond the imagination of the most visionary ancestors of ours. Due to modern science, a new civilization started in the world which is almost incomparable with the ancient old civilization.
Although today the ancient civilizations like Babylon, Mohanjodaro, Egypt, etc. are no longer their marvellous glory reaches us from their graves, due to the archaeologists, who devote all their life to unearth glories of the dead civilizations.
But today, we have to question what have we gained by all the scientific inventions of the Modern Age? We can say that today the entire world has been liked with the telephones and telegraphs wires, the aeroplanes are buzzing the air at tremendous speeds, we have railways linking the land surfaces and ships that can cross seven seas, the vehicles which can run through roads, the factories, hospitals, industries, offices and banks that are all run efficiently with the help of machines. In spite of having all this we are still not anywhere nearer peace and the tranquility of life.
In fact today our civilization can be summed in three words-materialism, blind rush for money and corruption.
Moreover, the clouds of war also have not disappeared from the horizon of world.
There is still a lot we need to achieve for our world and civilization in terms of spirit.
