Our Class Picnic
One morning at assembly our teacher made an announcement that we were going on a class picnic to Badkal Lake. We were thirty of us including two teachers and two peons.
We left the next morning at 6.30 a.m. The weather was lovely, and for once, the heat was bearable. Everyone was happy and in a gay mood and we sang songs all along tile journey.
We reached our destination at about 11. a.m. and made our way up to the rocks along the lake. We roamed around, laughing and talking, then spread carpets on the soft, green grass and had our lunch. All sorts of delicious food had been prepared by the parents, so we ate to our heart’s content.
We then went boating. We were warned to sit carefully in the boat, and the teachers accompanied us to ensure that we were not naughty. We had lots of fun rowing the boat.
But evening was drawing to a close, and we knew that soon we would have to return home. We reached Delhi faster than when we had left in the morning, or so it seemed.
Though we were tired, we told our families all about the enjoyable time we had.
