Lake Baikal
Baikal Lake is the world’s largest sweet water lake with regards to its depth and capacity both. It is 1,637-meter-deep and 31,500 square km long lake. This lake is located in Siberia in Russia, and has world’s 20 per cent of sweet water here. In Baikal lake 1,700 varieties of species are found, out of which two-third species are such which are only found here and cannot be found anywhere in the world. In 1996, UNESCO had declared Baikal Lake as the World Heritage Spot. This is the oldest lake of the world having 20.5 million years as its span of life.
