Discipline
Discipline is indispensable as its absence creates chaos, topsy-turvy atmosphere and confusion, Liberalism and individualism, if not regulated, can undo whatever we have gained through centuries. Discipline is the greatest law of nature. Regulated behaviour is key to success, progress and prosperity. To lead a harmonious social life discipline is must. Discipline means learning and obeying a code of conduct. It inculcates self control, obedience, cooperation, tolerance and orderliness. It can be given a departing handshake if we are living out of the purview of the society. Then there will be jungle rule: ‘Might is right’. Civilization will crumble and to resurrect it discipline has to be embraced. Discipline is of two kinds—inner and outer and both are complimentary to each other. Outer discipline inculcates inner one. Once inner discipline is created there will be no need of any external agency to impose discipline in walks of life. Discipline’s role is positive. It regulates life, creates harmony out of confusion and keeps things going smoothly. It makes man morally sound. Even an iota of its absence creates disorder and chaos and that proves its importance and need. Disciplined driving is safe but a little flouting of traffic signals results into fatal accidents. So, discipline is needed everywhere. Animal instincts in man can be checked by means of discipline only.
