Cleanliness
The proverb ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’ itself depicts the supreme importance of cleanliness. Cleanliness is indispensable for a healthy condition of body mind and soul.
Let dirt accumulate, let sweat become thick flakes, let dirty clothes scatter obnoxious smell and let you go without bath. See the result. Body will suffer and you may be on the sick-bed. Germs get multiplied and dangerous diseases infect human body. It means you want to enjoy life and keep well you have no choice but to keep your body and surroundings clean. Visit slums where people live by the bank of the river of slush and mud. People there are prone to various diseases. Insanitary conditions spread havoc. Dwelling places if left uncleaned become the breeding grounds of disease carrying insects and germs. Uncleaned body becomes the nest of many diseases.
We often hear the utterance—A healthy mind in a healthy body. If body is down, mind is bound to go down. Scriptures I too tell us—first blessing is disease free body. Mental diseases grip a person who is not clean bodily. One can say, persons in long meditation do not clean their body. It means they are mentally diseased. Not at all, For Meditating person’s body does not exist. But for a man of the world healthy body guarantees a healthy mind.
An uncleaned man collects no respect, Nobody is ready to talk to a person whose body and clothes smell dirt and grease. This world presses its nostrils when he goat conies near: it is because an obnoxious smell comes out of this animal. Evil thoughts spring from dirty surroundings Demons reside in dirt and angels in clear corners. Altar needs incense, black magic requires filth.
It goes without saying that cleanliness occupies a prominent place in cur life.
