A Visit to a Historical Monument

India is said to be a land of historic buildings. The great monument Taj Mahal is not only a historical building but it is also one of the Eight Wonders of the world. Taj Mahal is famous for its architectural beauty.

Taj Mahal stands on the bank of the river Yamuna in Agra. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is built from pure white marble by twenty thousand workmen over the time period of twenty years.

As one enters the Taj, through its large archway, one can see the green garden and adorned surroundings. With a row of fountains leading to the Taj, it stands on a raised platform with four minarets at each corner and a big dome at the center. It is surrounded by Cyprus trees on three sides.

The most spectacular view of the Taj comes on a moonlit night when the whole building shines like snow white pearl. Thousands of people from all over the world come to see the beauty of the Taj.

As one enters the Taj Mahal’s environs, one can see the green gardens adorning the sides of paths with a row of fountains leading to the marble building. It stands on a raised platform with four minarets at each corner and a big dome at the center. It is surrounded by Cyprus trees on three sides.

The grave of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal lies in the basement of the marble building. But the most spectacular view of the Taj is on a moonlit night when the whole building shines like a silver structure. Thousands of people from all over the world come to catch the glimpse of the beauty of the Taj Mahal.

To conclude we can say that the Taj Mahal is indeed a very grand and magnificent historical building.
